Minutes of the LFS Annual Membership Meeting 9-5-2002

The annual membership meeting of the Laramie Film Society was held Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Laramie Fire Substation. Notice of the meeting was by letters to individual members. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

LFS Board members in attendance: Robert Roten, Casey Wood, Ali Grossman, Lynn Hamblin, J-P Cavigelli, Henry Laskowsky and David Lightbourne.

Absent, Pam Dillinger.

Moved by Casey Wood seconded by Ali Grossman that the minutes of the previous annual meeting be accepted. Motion passed unanimously.

Moved by Henry Laskowsky seconded by Casey Wood that the resignation of Pam Dillinger from the board of directors be accepted.

Motion passed unanimously.

Moved by Ali Grossman seconded by J-P Cavigelli that David Lightbourne be named to the board of directors of the Laramie Film Society. Motion passed unanimously.

A discussion followed about future activities of the Laramie Film Society.

Henry Laskowsky suggested a member of the board be present at fall film series films to promote LFS and recruit new members.

There was a discussion about fund-raising and showing films. Ali Grossman suggested showing the new director's cut of "Cinema Paradiso" as a fund-raiser. It was also suggested LFS do a showing of the Jubilee Days silent film next summer at the band shell in Washington Park, along with the downtown showing.

It was moved by Ali Grossman and seconded by J-P Cavigelli that Ali send a letter to Marshall Smith asking for free use of the Wyo Theatre, or failing that, as inexpensive a use as possible, for a fund-raiser featuring the new director's cut of "Cinema Paradiso." The letter is to be signed by all board members.

Memberships were discussed. It was decided to leave the charter memberships as they are, with no expiration date.

Casey Wood gave a brief treasurer's report. LFS has $861.96 in its account at First National Bank in Laramie.

Motion by Casey Wood, seconded by Lynn Hamblin to adjourn the meeting. The vote to adjourn the meeting was unanimous. The meeting concluded at 8:30 p.m.
